老師的話 In order to improve your TOEFL or IELTS scores, not only should you practice the material but try to listen to different dialects such as those from Canada, the UK, or Australia, since these are regularly featured in the listening test. This can be done through websites such as BBC News. Try to listen to news broadcasts and then make notes about what is being said. Then try to rephrase the report in your own words and then listen again to try to see how accurate you were. Another way to help is to try to listen to TV programs such as National Geographic or Discovery and hide the subtitles and make notes about what you hear. That will help train your ears to catch different accents at different speeds.

老師的話 I would advise you to look at the material before class, even if just briefly. If you are able to do this you can prepare some questions ahead of time and also be prepared for what happens during class. Of course, paying attention is the single most important piece of advice I can give you. Lastly, the best way to learn is to make notes and jot down everything that is being said. This allows you to retain the material being taught and keeps you paying attention with ease. Also, remember that I am there to help you, ask me questions and don't be afraid!

老師的話 It sounds obvious but it's true: The key to speaking English is just to speak. Worry about the grammar, accent and intonation later! The more you speak, the more confident you'll feel! Practice useful set phrases at home, in the shower, in front of the mirror – anywhere, everywhere! If you don't have any foreign friends, chat to your Taiwanese pals in English. Most of all, never be scared about making a fool of yourself. Oh, and read! Read as much as possible.

老師的話 Learning a foreign language it's not easy so you need to have the right attitude. I've been studying languages for over 20 years now and the first thing you need when you learn a language is patience. Try to think of English like it was your boyfriend or girlfriend, that means: be interested in it (read english books or see a movie), try to have fun with it, always pay attention and learn from your mistakes.
